About Cameron Wood

Cameron Wood My interest in photography began in teenage-hood (a very long time ago) with the purchase of a Yashica Lynx 5000E. This was a 35mm rangefinder, which I soon outgrew for a Minolta SRT-101, and then bought a few Minolta models throughout the years. Somewhere along the way, I also purchased a Topcon, a workhorse of a 35mm film camera. Many years later down the road, I bought my first digital camera, and was quite frankly, underwhelmed, and it took me several more years to make the transition to a digital format.

I believe it was in 2005, I purchased Sony's Alpha 100, and was pleasantly pleased until I once again outgrew this model, and made the move to Sony's a77. This is a very good DSLR, albeit somewhat hefty with the dual battery pack, but is certainly a pleasure to have in my hands. Quite recently, I added another very good supplementary camera to my gear, the RX10 MKII. It by no means replaces my a77, but fills the gap with onboard 4K video, and ultra-high frame rate for slow motion video from 240fps to 960fps!

Stored away for a video some time in the future is my Canon XL-1, a state of the art camera, in its day. Also, supplementing the still photography side, are a handful of Sigma lenses: 10-20mm zoom, 100-300mm zoom , and a 150-500mm zoom.

Upon retirement in 2013, I decided to follow my cameras full time and leave the field of higher education. With an academic background in educational technology (M.Ed.), I continue to pursue interests in augmented reality applications, and now have transitioned to Fine Art America in order to further add to sales that I have attained on 500px and also The Narrative Lens.
